Pekau Responds to Casten’s Vote Against U.S. Border Patrol

“As mayor, I’ve consistently supported law enforcement…. Sean Casten protects those who break the law over those who enforce it. And he has put all of us at risk.”

Sean Casten (IL-06) was among a handful of congressmen on the extreme Left who voted to block consideration of legislation commending U.S. Border Patrol agents who work hard to protect our border and secure our nation. They also voted to prevent floor debate of a resolution that calls on the Biden Administration to end the crisis at our southern border.

“The Southern border is in a crisis of such magnitude that it creates misery for absolutely everyone who is touched by it. President Biden and leftists like Sean Casten have put in place policies that have demoralized our border agents.

“Charged with securing our southern border, these agents rescue women and children left to die by traffickers, confront the drug trade, combat gang violence, all while attempting to perform their usual duties in the face of over three million illegal crossings.

“Yet, instead of supporting these brave men and women, the Biden Administration has turned them into political pawns. Sean Casten should stand with Border Patrol, but he is an Illinois Democrat. Casten and his party have actively worked to dismantle, demoralize and defund law enforcement. And you see the results, crime is skyrocketing not only in Chicago and Cook County, but you see it seeping over into DuPage and Lake Counties too.

“As mayor, I’ve consistently supported law enforcement. In Orland Park, we have  fostered relationships between private businesses and the police; passed resolutions and Village ordinances that support our officers; and established Police Department Appreciation Month.

“It’s simple: Support for law enforcement means safer streets for everyone. But Sean Casten protects those who break the law over those who enforce it. And he has put all of us at risk.”
